So for some time now, I’ve been sharing clips from my game of “Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream” on Discord and Twitter. I imagine for anyone not interested, this has been very annoying, but I’ve really enjoyed sharing my island and its residents with everyone. I themed my island around the Near Hentai Studio, its residents being 70 of the more popular (or my personal favorite) Studio members. In the game these residents get married and have kids, all of which I’ve documented and shared online.

I don’t keep any of the kids who are born on my island, since there’s limited space, but I haven’t forgotten any of them. The narrative in-game is that these kids leave the island and go off to explore the world, presumably living rich, adventurous lives. I like the idea of those kids, at least some of them, finding their way to the Studio somehow. I don’t know how many of them I’ll draw, but I’d like to draw some of them. These kids are sort of like a weird alternate take on my NHS Fusions concept, children of an alternate reality version of familiar characters.

So all that out of the way, this is Lake Ayase and his younger sister Raleigh Ayase. They’re the children of Seiko Ayase and Make Zenin. I considered hyphenating their last names, but like Toji I just assumed Maki wouldn’t be interested in carrying on the Zenin name with her kids (even if Tomodachi Maki has no idea who the Zenin clan are). Lake was the first kid on my island, and Raleigh was the first second child, so I wanted to bring them in first. Raleigh’s hairstyle in the game is the same one I use for Seiko, and since she’s Seiko’s daughter I figured I’d interpret her hairstyle in reverse the same way. I tried to interpret them back into the art style of their parents, rather than just draw them as Miis or whatever. I had fun doing this, and if people are curious to see more I’d like to draw more little pics of the other island babies eventually, just to give them some life outside of being deleted from my save file. I get weirdly emotional over the little “growing up” cutscene these characters get, so I find an odd satisfaction in continuing their journeys in this way.
