The Komi MomSwap’s been on the docket for a while, even before Shuuko’s NHML win, and here it is. It’s a little hard to imagine Shouko going through with an actual meet-up set up through this app, but they’re at least putting themselves out there.
The Venture Bros. is one of those shows that I watched and loved, but have barely ever drawn. Part of it is just due to when I watched most of it, but I believe the only times I ever drew it were when Molotov Cocktease and Tatyana Orpheus both came up as WWOTM winners way back in the day.
Despite this, this is a show I would love to do more of eventually. There’s actually quite the long list of ladies I was obsessed with ages ago and would get a kick out of drawing now. For now, though, it was a lot of fun to draw Triana and her mom here. Triana’s a fun character, and while Tatyana barely appears in the show she left quite the impression in her handful of scenes. It’s kinda funny to do this MomSwap so soon after the Goth Club got a Club Card, but I guess last month’s MomSwap also featured a goth girl so maybe the odds were in favor of that.
I have at least one other MomSwap pic with Venture Bros. characters planned, but it won’t be for a while. As for non-MomSwap stuff… I don’t know. I don’t want to make any promises, but I’d really love to draw Dr. Girlfriend or Sally Impossible some day.
When “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” came out I began thinking about doing something with the old animated series design of Lydia. I only saw this show a handful of times as a kid, but I’ve seen this version of Lydia around a lot in various places. Lydia’s relationship with her step-mom is pretty strained in both the original film and the cartoon, although the sequel did show a more nuanced and sweet side to their dynamic.
This is a pairing I’ve had on my list for a while, I feel like. I drew Mandy a little bit back when I was contributing to the Camp W.O.O.D.Y. series, but haven’t really done much with the characters from Grim Adventures since. That’s a shame, as there are several characters I’m into from that cartoon. Mandy’s mom, Claire, is an underappreciated one. I always thought she looked great, and she’s already canonically pretty broken in and submissive to her daughter. Off the top of my head, others I like are (rather predictably) Billy’s mom, Eris, their teacher and Major Dr. Ghastly from Evil Con Carne.
I experimented with the art a bit here, as most people who draw this series seem to do. Mandy especially just doesn’t have much going on if you draw her 1-to-1 with her canon design, but I didn’t want to go full Bleedman or anything either. I tried to put together my own approach, and I hope it works well for you all.
So back in October of last year, Kari won the NHML lottery and I did a threesome pic of her with her friend Yolei and her mother. I mentioned at the time that I was going to add her to my MomSwap list to do a pic of just the two of them, and now that time has come.
I’m actually not sure why it took so long for me to get to Riley and her mom Jill for this series. I wanted to do the Sleepover Raid girls who had moms early on, but I think I just got caught up in other pairing ideas. So she ended up pushed back, but we’re here now. One benefit of the wait is that I got to use her slightly older design from the second film, with this being the first time I’ve drawn this version of Riley. As for Jill, she’s one of my favorite Pixar moms, maybe second only to Helen? I’m not sure I’m prepared for a tier list but she’s definitely up there.
For this MomSwap I decided to go to Sailor Moon and her mother, Ikuko. Like I tend to do with Sailor Moon content, I based their designs off the original anime adaptation, since that’s my personal favorite version of the franchise.
Here’s the other half of my “The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio” MomSwap entries. Yumiko’s a gyaru in her civilian life, with a more traditional presentation when she’s in her voice actor persona. Her mom is unnamed, but I thought she was really cute and I’m happy to finally draw them together.
So way back in 2018, the May One-Shot comic had a MomSwap theme to it. Of the four mother/daughter pairings done for that comic, only one’s had an actual MomSwap entry up to now. I figured it was past time to do another one of them, and Kim and her mom are a pairing that I think a lot of folks will enjoy seeing. I have a soft spot for the Kim Possible characters, so this was a fun one for me.
So I watched Seiyuu Radio no Uraomote, or The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio, a while ago and enjoyed it. It’s about two voice actresses who discover their private civilian identities are classmates, and through some shenanigans end up hosting a podcast together. It’s nothing terribly special, but I remember liking both of the lead girls and their moms, which is why I set them both aside for future MomSwap entries. I remember there being a few other ladies in the show I was fond of, plus it had a lot of fake anime made up for the series, like My Dress-Up Darling, which is something I always enjoy in anime about anime.
Up first is Chika, who’s the more sullen and serious half of the lead duo. Her mom is similar, being the stricter of the parents we see, but here they’re able to get a bit more loosey-goosey and have a little fun together.
