Blinky and Clyde get semi-regular Asks submitted for them, and a lot more this month after it became clear I was focusing on a few Halloween Asks. Unfortunately, both of them are a bit tricky to do much with in Asks. You see, when I make Spookyverse characters, I often think about how they’d work if they were in a legitimate horror movie (or the like). For the Punchinello Pranksters, this means they have a bit of a group dynamic. Inky and Pinky are kinda the faces of the group, the ones with more personality who get all the dialogue. Clyde is more of the silent, creepy supporting character, while Blinky’s the one who mostly communicates through laughing. Of course, those aren’t hard rules and I could break them at any time, but since they haven’t shown up much I haven’t had much opportunity to convey these elements of their characters. This Ask was convenient because it’s focused a lot more on Kazuma’s reaction, something he does well in his own role in his show. Having an over-the-top reaction to some trouble he got into due to the proclivities of Darkness is just as much on-brand for him as laughing at nothing is for Blinky.
So, one type of joke KonoSuba likes to do often is to set its protagonist, Kazuma, up in a stereotypical hentai/fantasy scenario, and then crash it in some way right before it gets good. This scene is one of those, where Kazuma ended up swapping bodies with the young princess of the land, Iris. While in her body, he managed to get into a scenario where he had both Darkness and Iris’s bodyguard, Claire, in a bath with him. Obviously they swapped back before anything happened, but the scenario ticked a lot of niche boxes for me that I won’t get into here. However, I wanted to do a little something with the scene, so I sketched it real quick the day I saw the episode and just not got around to wrapping it up. I hope some of y’all will enjoy it.

So here’s the Near Hentai Monthly Lady for December this year! Megumin is a magic user in KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! (or just KonoSuba). The main joke with her character is that she only practices explosion magic (she refuses to cast anything else, and insists on casting an explosion spell once per day despite the level of magic needed completely draining her each time). Whenever she does cast magic, she yells out “Explosion!”, hence the joke here (though she’s not casting a spell in this pic, the explosion is a bit further south). I came very close to doing a yuri pic for her entry, and maybe some day I’ll still do some yuri content with her, but this time around I decided to pair her with KonoSuba’s primary character, Kazuma Satou.
With this post, NHML nominations for the month of January are now open. For those who don’t know, I’ll run down the rules real quick. Nominations are limited to one per person, and if I catch anyone trying to do multiple nominations by changing their names I will remove all of that person’s nominations. You can nominate any female character you want, provided I have not drawn her within the past calendar year (though I prefer characters I’ve never drawn, period). Previous NHML winners are not eligible for a second time. Nominees must also not be from the same franchise as this month’s winner, KonoSuba. If you violate any of those rules, I’ll let you know, and you can nominate someone else. I know it can be hard to keep track of those things. You may nominate by either commenting in the cBox, commenting to this post, or emailing me (Nearphotison2010@yahoo.com). I’ll compile a list of the nominees on the sidebar of this site, and then on January 1st I will use a randomizer to select the winning character who I will proceed to draw sometime that month. I look forward to seeing who you all nominate this time around!
