April ’15 WWOTM – Gloria Ookanda

The WWOEC Woman of the Month for April 2015 is Gloria Ookanda from PriPara. She was my nomination, and some of you may remember the earlier picture I did of her. I’ve become steadily more obsessed with this crazy woman, and fully expect to do more of her in the future. I don’t know exactly what it is, but she’s quickly climbed up into my top five animated women, and I’m already planning a yuri picture of her for the future.

As for this one, I already had it partway done as a follow-up to the previous pic I did. Even with it mostly finished I still had trouble finding time to wrap it up, thanks to me being in my final semester of university. However, a few weeks from now, I’m looking forward to having a lot more time to devote to this blog! This pic is also the first with my new watermark, which is just a simple stylized ‘N’ that I think is a lot less distracting (if also less helpful) than the website URL that I’ve been using.

March ’15 WWOTM – Debs Turnbull

The WWOEC Woman of the Month for March 2015 is Debbie “Debs” Turnbull, the mother from Robotboy. I’ve only seen a handful of episodes from this show and, honestly, I don’t particularly care for it. I do get why Debs would be a popular pick, given her generous hip size, but for me it was difficult to reconcile the show’s style (particularly in regard to the character’s heads). I ended up drawing them more like Minecraft characters, which I think worked since I can’t pull off a 2D look well. I think the final result here is… okay. I’m not crazy about this pic, but I don’t hate it either.

February ’15 WWOTM – Diana, the Acrobat

The WWOEC Woman of the Month for February 2015 is Diana from the Dungeons & Dragons animated series. Now, despite playing a lot of the game it’s based on, I’d never seen this show before. However, once I started doing some research, I had too many ideas to choose from. So I decided to pair her up with everyone from the main cast, and here we are. I might return to this character later, since I also wanted to do something with her staff weapon, but hey, we’ll see.

I decided to do two versions of the colors, one based on the flat colors of the show and another closer to my usual coloring style.

January ’15 WWOTM – Lieutenant Helga Katrina Sinclair

The WWOEC Woman of the Month for January 2015 is Lt. Helga Katrina Sinclair from Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire. I always enjoyed the Atlantis film, though both it and Treasure Planet tend to get lumped together and pushed to the side as far as mainstream Disney attention goes. I’m not sure why that is, I think they’re both great adventure movies for kids, but maybe it’s that breaking of the Disney formula that stigmatizes them to casual viewers.

Anyway, one thing I always liked about Atlantis is that it has three smoking hot female characters. So, when Helga came up, I took advantage of the opportunity to include Kida and Audrey as well, though Helga is still the focus. I did my best to make it clear the guy is meant to be Milo, too. Unfortunately, do to poor spacial planning and the restrictions of my references, both his and Kida’s heads ended up cut off more than I would’ve liked. Still, I think the pic is pretty solid, and I hope you guys like it. 🙂

December ’14 WWOTM – Jingle Belle

The WWOEC Woman of the Month for December 2014 is one submitted by myself, Jingle Belle. I admit, I haven’t actually read the Jingle Belle comics much, but I like her design and she fits well with the season. So, for that reason, this doubles as my Christmas pic (not that I had one planned).

The funny thing is, I had originally planned to submit Polly Green, Jingle Belle’s Haloween-themed friend, for the October WWOTM. I forgot, though, and submitted Judge J. B. McBride instead. The judge was picked, meaning if I had remember what I had planned, there would’ve been two Jingle Belle characters in the appropriate months.

On a side note, I need to stop naming my files after songs. I had Anita Ward’s “Ring My Bell” stuck in my head the whole time I was working on this.

November ’14 WWOTM – Ayako

The WWOEC Woman of the Month for November 2014 is Ayako from “Slam Dunk”. I vaguely remember reading the first few chapters of the manga about six years ago, but I can’t recall much about it. However, revisiting it now I really enjoy the old school art style, and Ayako was pretty fun to draw. I can’t say I have any designs to revisit the character, but I enjoyed drawing her for WWOTM.

I barely had time to pump this out, and I’m sorry. I’ve got a full load of university courses this semester, and right now they’re all breathing down my neck. That’s why it’s been such a slow month (that, and working on commissions for big projects), and I apologize for that. Hopefully in December we can get back to a steady update pace.

October ’14 WWOTM – Judge J. B. McBride

The WWOEC Woman of the Month for October 2014 is Judge J. B. McBride from Filmation’s BraveStarr, nominated by yours truly! As usual, I wanted to contribute something to the event, despite the fact that I cannot nominate for next month.

Most people know Filmation for He-Man and She-Ra, I think (and, truth be told, I have something from the Masters of the Universe in the works as well). I really love BraveStarr, though. It has all of the things that made MOTU great (great humor, colorful characters, awkward animations and voice acting), but has a very unique space western setting to help it stand out. The judge here is a great character with her laser gavel and competence in battle. Plus, she’s a fiery redhead, and who doesn’t love that?

Here we have McBride being shared by the title character of the show, Marshal BraveStarr, and his trusty steed, Thirty/Thirty (who can change between a horse and a horse-man). They’re best friends and share everything. I plan to do at least two more pictures featuring these three, both pretty similar to this one. I can’t say when they’ll pop up, but I had to choose between three ideas I really liked and want to do them all eventually.

September ’14 WWOTM – Jamika

The WWOEC Woman of the Month for September 2014 is Jamika from Bébé’s Kids. I never saw this movie, but I’ve been partial to this type of character in the past. I’ve always liked the mother from Disney’s Proud Family, and Jamika here reminds me of her in a lot of ways.

Of the titular kids in the movie, to my knowledge Leon here is the only one that belongs to Jamika. The rest are, well… Bébé’s kids. I had thought about doing a gangbang of the kids on Jamika, similar to my Magic School Bus pic from a while back, but I was worried about time so I went with a simpler approach. Maybe some time in the future I’ll do that other version, who knows.

August ’14 WWOTM – Six of Nine

WWOEC’s Woman of the Month for August 2014 is Six of Nine from Tripping the Rift. I remember when this show came on, and it always looked really, really bad to me. Part of it was that the CGI used to make the show looked like ReBoot (several years after ReBoot), but mostly it was that the show seemed to go out of its way to be unappealing. I never even really found Six of Nine, the character who was a walking sex joke, to be that attractive thanks to the ugly way she was animated. That being said, I did try to make her visually appealing here, since the design itself was never a problem for me.

Anyway, I’ve actually watched a couple episodes now while preparing for this pic. I think I was right to pass on it when it aired, since the show was not only ugly and unfunny, but pretty offensive as well. I just don’t have anything nice to say about it. Hopefully you guys can enjoy this picture, though.

July ’14 WWOTM – Dilandra (Dyl) Piquel

So the WWOEC Woman of the Month for July 2014 is Dilandra (or Dyl) Piquel, the wife of Lucky Piquel in Disney’s Bonkers. I never really watched Bonkers, I just found the main character a bit too annoying. This was the first time I’d seen Dyl or her daughter (Marilyn, pictured here between her mother’s legs). I wasn’t crazy about either of them, but I whipped this one up anyway for the event.

However, I do think I’ll revisit this series sometime to draw Miranda Wright, Bonkers’ female partner from some episodes. I like her design quite a bit, and I’m kind of wanting to pair Bonkers up with a human character. I don’t know if or when I’ll do that, but hopefully sometime soon. In the meantime, enjoy this pic!
