For this cover I asked my Subscribers to nominate “science” characters. There were a lot of good nominations, and if we hadn’t already had several DBZ SLM covers then it’d probably be Bulma here. Instead I went with Reagan Ridley from Inside Job, a character whose representation in my work so far is much smaller than my actual interest in her. I’m extremely fond of Reagan and would like to find more excuses to draw her in the future, but for now this magazine spotlight is pretty nice I think.
I’ve got a lot of things keeping me busy currently, so once again I’m looking to some old drawings or simple pics to keep the schedule full. This one is the latter, as I had the itch to draw Reagan again. I really like her, honestly, and I’ve had fun drawing her every time I have so far.
There’ve been a handful of Thomas Edison questions submitted every month since her debut, but I’ve usually had one reason or another to go with other questions each time. I decided to go ahead and answer this one, though, just because I really wanted to draw her again. This Ask is pretty similar to the Hatsume/Entrapta Ask, even down to the posing, but with Thomas and Reagan instead. I paired her with Reagan just because she’s also a character I’d like to do more with who fits into the inventor category.
So, I admit, I didn’t really know exactly what to make of this Ask. I really like Reagan, though, so I decided to take it on anyway. While I’m not entirely sure what the question is getting at, I figured since a big part of Reagan’s character is being a lonely workaholic I’d just show her riding a sci-fi-looking dildo.
Edit: So I later found out that this Ask is actually meant to reference a scene in the first episode where she shouts, “Suck my dick!” I do vaguely remember this scene, but I didn’t ascribe any particular importance or weight to it, as it’s just a thing people say. I’m perfectly happy with her answer here, as I think understanding the question probably would’ve made me less likely to pick it for a response.
