Stark Character Ask 1

I thought it’d be fun to pair Stark up with a warrior from a different world, and Guts seemed like a good choice to me. Not only do the come from similar fantasy worlds (if very different in tone), but it’s a good set-up for the same sword joke I made in the last pic with Guts in it. It’s also the first time I’ve drawn Guts’s face, so there’s that, too.

Griffith Character Ask 1

Of course there are a lot of royal characters in the Studio, but I know this Subscriber has wanted to see Griffith and Canute together in the past, so that’s the direction I went. It’s a pairing that makes sense in the vein of the characters having some parallels, mostly due to them being pretty/effeminate friends/rivals of the protagonist who go on to become antagonists. I don’t know enough about Canute’s story to know how far he goes into that territory, so I assume he’s not as bad as Griffith, but the connection makes sense even if they might not actually get along. And, of course, Griffith has a rocky history with romancing royalty, so I figured I’d play into that a little in the response.

Heap of Raw Meat

A while ago I sketched a bunch of pin-up and POV pics of characters I felt I hadn’t drawn enough. Most of those will probably never make it to the final stages, but this Casca one is an exception. While coloring this one I thought it’d be funny to use the wording of the manga when describing Guts’s sword to describe the weapon he’s using here. I think it’s a nice touch.

Berserk Throuple

This is a pic I’ve considered doing for quite some time, but never felt motivated to do. It wasn’t until I re-watched the ’97 anime with someone recently that I decided to go ahead and do it. Guts, Griffith and Casca have a really great dynamic during the Golden Age, the portion of the story that anime covers, and I like pairing those versions of the characters together. That also happens to be the time period where all three have their sexiest designs, in my opinion, so if any of them end up in Asks or anything you can bet that’ll be the era I look to for reference.
