This one’s pretty simple, but I thought it’d be nice to see a little one-on-one action between Yuko and her crush Yuji.
I don’t usually pick up this type of question, on account of it having too thin of a basis and also being a bit too specific. However, I answered this one for a couple of reasons. One is that I felt I needed to get an Ask for this Subscriber, but also I thought I could tackle a couple of different things here. One is the fact that Anya, despite her appearance, is not at child-level intelligence in the Studio and as to get into character to do the baby talk she does in the show. Another is that I thought this would be a good chance to hint at Anya’s opinion of Makima, as what she describes here is basically how I see her relationship with any of Denji’s acquaintances (at this time). With Anya’s abilities I’m sure she’s self-censoring a lot with her statement here, as I’m sure she has pretty strong opinions on Makima and Denji’s relationship with her. Originally it was going to just be Anya here talking, but I decided to go ahead and have her bring in Nimona just so she could weigh in with her take, too.
This Ask is in reference to “Chi-Chi’s Fan Appreciation Tour,” an incomplete story in the Literature section of the site. Asami is one of several Studio residents who wins a fan trip with Chi-Chi in the story. I don’t know if this Subscriber had that in mind with this question, as I suspect they might’ve just been hoping to see Asami with any random new character I thought she’d pair well with. However, I don’t have many good opportunities to “canonize” written stories set in the Studio like this. I think this is the first time I’ve drawn any pairing from this story, although I can’t be certain. Regardless, I thought it’d make for a fun answer.
I can recall at least one time Nappa and Vegeta meet after Nappa’s death, maybe there are others I’m forgetting, but I think in the Studio they’d probably have a slightly different dynamic. I don’t really see Vegeta putting the gang back together with either Nappa or Raditz, personally, but I’m sure they’ve reconciled a bit. I really don’t think Nappa would have the balls to try and go behind Vegeta’s back at all, but I do think Vegeta would be fine with letting Bulma use Nappa for some good side dick.
I feel like this one kinda speaks for itself, just one more fun thing for Denji to try out with Makima.
Since I’ve never watched Fairy Tail, I don’t have a strong grasp of Natsu and Gray’s relationship beyond assumptions I can make from other series I’ve watched with an outgoing protagonist and his sullen friend. That being said, this felt like the appropriate response to me, and I guess we’ll see if there’s ever a more definitive answer. For now I figured this would be a good chance for fans of Natsu to see a bit more of him.
So the idea for this Ask is mostly focusing on how differently Goku approaches the concept compared to Vegeta. I also took advantage of the situation to pair Goku up with another protag he hadn’t been with yet.
We’re revisiting Gohan again for a simple little Ask explaining something about the Studio I think there’s some confusion about. I think this has been explained before, but obviously nobody is going to see everything I’ve put out at this point so I figured I’d let Gohan explain it here. I also needed a bit of a simple Ask for today, so it works out.
Unlike Todo, I don’t think Choso is very likely to refer to someone as his brother unless there’s a literal familial connection. Without trying to be funny, I think his brotherly bonds tend to be much more about blood. So, with that being the case, I couldn’t really have him answer this question in the affirmitive.
However, I did have a crossover pairing I wanted to do with him. I’m not sure what exactly made me want to draw Choso with Envy. It might be just because I already had an FMA connection in my head due to Choso’s debut (and, in fact, I’m certain these two met when Envy tried to crash Ed’s debut shoot), or it might be they’re the only two males so far who don’t wear nail polish in canon but do in Studio (to the best of my knowledge). I do also kind of like the image of them painting their nails together. Whatever the case, though, it was a pairing I wanted to do and this Ask seemed like a good chance to do it while also addressing my reading of Choso’s brothers needing to be literal.
Mordecai was kind of a last-minute addition to CJ’s NHML debut, but that does put him in the Studio and I think it’s natural he and CJ (and also Margaret) would talk. Now, CJ’s time in the show is past what I’ve watched of it, so I don’t know a ton about her or how things between her and Mordecai ended. However, I’m sure that they’d be able to at least be amicable in the Studio, and I think hooking up wouldn’t be off the table. Probably both of them can and will find more permanent partners in the Studio, but this Ask is more about having some fun on the side.
