First Shoot #22 – Tauro

The third and final winner from our last First Shoot poll is Tauro, the enthusiastic archeologist from Tears of the Kingdom. He’s a fairly minor character in the game, but he’s got a good look and I figured some of my followers would be interested in seeing him in action. I was reminded while working on this why I don’t tend to do much stuff with the modern Zelda characters, though, as his design is very busy and it was frustrating keeping track of his little accessories and whatnot. At any rate, he pulled Tadashi from Big Hero 6 for his partner, who we haven’t seen in a while. So that’s fun.

Hayley Smith Character Ask 1

When I was working on Hayley’s content in my Studio Tour game, I realized I kinda like working with her. At the time I thought I’d be doing a lot more Hayley content (and maybe other ladies from the Seth Macfarlane shows), but that hasn’t really happened so far. I thought this Ask seemed like a fun one to do, though. I believe there’s been some crossover between Family Guy and American Dad in one or both shows, but I haven’t really seen them or know if Hayley and Lois interacted directly. I had fun drawing them together for this, though, even if I didn’t have much to add to the “answer” portion of this Ask.

Griffith Character Ask 1

Of course there are a lot of royal characters in the Studio, but I know this Subscriber has wanted to see Griffith and Canute together in the past, so that’s the direction I went. It’s a pairing that makes sense in the vein of the characters having some parallels, mostly due to them being pretty/effeminate friends/rivals of the protagonist who go on to become antagonists. I don’t know enough about Canute’s story to know how far he goes into that territory, so I assume he’s not as bad as Griffith, but the connection makes sense even if they might not actually get along. And, of course, Griffith has a rocky history with romancing royalty, so I figured I’d play into that a little in the response.

Studio Life Magazine 5 with Jessie

I finally got around to doing another Studio Life Magazine cover, and this is the first one to be done with the Subscriber-nomination system I plan to use going forward. The theme I gave Subscribers was “bad girls”, in order to make sure we got out first female cover, and there were a lot of good nominations. I went with Jessie ’cause I feel like she’s got a pretty strong presence in my work while also feeling kinda underrepresented. I’m also just really fond of her, so it was nice to do a simple little pic like this. I’d like to do these a bit more frequently, if I can manage, since they’re pretty easy on me while also seeming to be popular with a lot of folks.

Yomi Mizuhara Character Ask 2

Like Yomi mentions here, Tomo Aizawa doesn’t have much in common with Tomo Takino, besides their names. If I’d compare her to anyone from Azumanga Daioh, it’d be Kagura. However, I kinda had an idea for how to have Yomi answer and still provide a fun image to go with it. I’m kinda interested in maybe doing some regular yuri between these two ladies eventually, but for this Ask I think it’s fine for Yomi to defer to Jun.

Tingle is a one-off character from the seventh episode of Mike Tyson Mysteries. When Pigeon thinks Yung’s been killed during a kidnapping plot, he hires local stripper Tingle to pose as her in the hopes that Mike won’t notice. Yung gets home on her own, finding Tingle in her room, and this is a little alternate take on how that could’ve gone. Despite having a small role, I feel like Tingle’s one of the more memorable one-off characters from the show, in part due to getting her own re-edit of the opening sequence where she steals the spotlight with her T&A.
