Of the multiple commissions I’m currently balancing, I somehow found time in the midst of holiday preparations to actually finish one! This is a picture of Eriko Kirishima, Maya Amano and Lisa Silverman of Persona 2. I’ve always found the Persona games to have remarkable style and design to them, to regretfully I’ve never played one. Still, it was fun to do this picture, which was commissioned by the same individual who did the earlier Maya pic.
The WWOEC Woman of the Month for November 2013 is Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled. I loved Tangled, quite a bit, and Rapunzel’s depiction in it was part of why. Originally I had only planned to do one pic (it would’ve been the middle one), but then I decided it would be easy to do a glowy hair one. I wanted to show short-haired Rapunzel some love, too, so I found a similar picture (there are millions of pics with nearly this exact same pose, it’s crazy) and imitated the rope pattern to create the third pic.
I wish I could say I drew that background, but it’s taken from the movie. I did re-create the image over the screenshot to make it look more like the foreground, but that’s all I can take credit for there.
I tried a very different approach to this one in general, taking a few cues from mainstream porn sites like Taboolicious. I don’t think I’m particularly suited for this style, but it was a fun experiment and I’m happy with the end result.
Here we have a commission I recently completed featuring three girls from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Daiya Higashikata, Jolyne Kujo, and Yasuho Hirose. I admit, I’ve never read the manga or anything, but I’ve always been fascinated by some of the more pop-art covers in the mangas and video games and such. I took my cue with the colors from that style, which is why they’re all green and pink here. I had a lot of fun with these psychedelic colors, and hopefully you all will as well!
This is the first of three Ultimate Muscle pictures I’ve been commissioned to draw. This one features Dik-Dik Van-Dik (Gazelleman), Check Mate and Keiko. I’ve visited the franchise before, doing some work for the original Kinnikuman, but now I’ve done some from the sequel series, known in Japan as Kinnikuman Nisei. Hope you all enjoy, there’s more to come!
The WWOEC Woman of the Month for October, 2013 is Princess Peach of the Mario franchise. I’ve always really liked Peach, and I’m not sure exactly why. I mean yeah, she’s cute, but she doesn’t seem to have much more going for her on the surface. Maybe it’s just how she manages to be so super-feminine while still sounding like a guy trying to impersonate a girl. I can’t really put my finger on it, but I’d like to do more with Peach in the future.
This is a pic by Iwasaki Tatsuya I colored. I really like Tatsuya-sama’s art style, he did a comic called “Monsterlog” that I loved when I was younger. If there was an English version, I would probably color it, too. His style is very unique, which may make it less palatable for some but it’s what draws me to his work. Hopefully I’ll get the opportunity to color his work again.
As for the picture itself, I’ve always been fond of Mai. I like that hairstyle, which is why I’m also pretty fond of Chi-Chi and Twilight Sparkle (among others). There’s a really good comic featuring Mai I would like to color someday, but unfortunately it can take some time to work through a whole comic.
