There’s not a ton of Kryptonians in the Studio, I don’t think, but there are a few. I don’t know for sure which ones this Subscriber had in mind, but I thought it’d be cute to see Lois with the Supergirl from a different universe.
For the tenth magazine cover I thought I’d break the model and do a couples pairing. A number of Studio couples were nominated for this page, but I decided to go with Goku’s parents since I thought they struck a good balance of being a popular, loving couple who have a good presence in the Studio but still feel underrepresented.
I watched the first season of Frieren back when it aired, and re-watched it with some folks a bit later. Going in I wasn’t super attracted to either of the female leads. I liked them, but their designs reminded me too much of other characters. As often happens, though, watching the show warmed me up to them, and I wanted to do a little something with them. It’s hard to say right now just how much of Frieren or Fern I’ll draw in the future, but I do think it’s safe to assume they’ll show up in my work again.
With this Ask I wanted to go with someone who’s kinda in line with the types of villains Sailor Moon faces in her show, but is also completely removed from the genre. It’s a difficult balance to walk, but one I think provides the most interesting result, so I went with Demencia from Villainous. Demencia’s a character I always meant to do more with, and I think she makes a unique but interesting partner for Sailor Moon here as she explores the world of hero/villain play in the Studio.
Sand Land is a manga I read back in high school and enjoyed a fair bit. I’ve been happy to see it getting some recognition lately with a game and an anime adaptation. I haven’t played the game, but I thought the anime was fun. I decided to do a little pic with the main two characters, Beelzebub and Rao, that I hope some of you will enjoy.
