Moving along with this PMC series, I decided we could move forward a bit now. Gwen’s less concerned about covering things that haven’t been voted for as me move closer to the latter half of this series. Like always, voting for the next pic will be up to my Subscribers.
I feel like Vegeta’s answer covers most of what I’d usually say here. I don’t feel like this is the same for Goku, but Vegeta’s relationship with both Frieza and Zarbon in the Studio is very much based on a role-reversal of their canon dynamics. Beyond that, I thought it’d be fun to show the contrast between these two while Vegeta answers.
So for a few different reasons I’m always hesitant to say two characters are a “couple” in the Studio if they aren’t in the source material. Even ones like Nanami and Tiana or whatever I usually just present them more as fuck buddies. The one exception is the handful of characters who I feel like are presented as a couple in the source material, but just aren’t confirmed (usually because it was taboo to do canon gay couples until fairly recently). Yuji and Inosuke, being from different series, obviously don’t fit into that, and I also just don’t know if I see their dynamic as romantic. They definitely feel to me more like friends who happen to fuck, like it’s easier to picture them goofing around than being heartfelt I guess. Anyway, I figured I’d try and answer this in their own words, with a little eye candy to boot.
When “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” came out I began thinking about doing something with the old animated series design of Lydia. I only saw this show a handful of times as a kid, but I’ve seen this version of Lydia around a lot in various places. Lydia’s relationship with her step-mom is pretty strained in both the original film and the cartoon, although the sequel did show a more nuanced and sweet side to their dynamic.
This is a pretty simple one, but one I thought might be fun to see. Canute’s talked before in Asks about enjoying ceding control and responsibility, and how he’s found that liberating in the Studio. I think this goes along with that, where even if Thorfinn’s a bit rough with him he won’t mind since that’s part of letting your partner take control.
So this is a bit of a follow-up to an older Ask with Azula (which is why I included her here). That Ask focused on Mai trying to not make noises, but still letting out cute sounds in spite of herself. I think the idea here was to see her pushed beyond that, so Ty Lee attacks her weak point for massive damage.
The Film Appreciation Club is a bit of a weird one, as I feel it’s a lot more open than the other clubs. Almost any character could hypothetically fit in this club, so the list of members is a bit all over the place. I started it with the canon film buffs, characters who talk about movies a lot in the source material. From their I extended it a bit to characters who have memorable or noteworthy scenes watching movies or going to the theater. Eventually I’d like to explore a bit more some characters who don’t have movies in their home universes, but seem like they’d be into them once they got to the Studio. That’s a bit trickier, although Eren here is kinda an example of that.
I added all three of the AOT core trio to this club based primarily off their little AU scene from the end of the finale film, but of course the mainline versions of these characters are never shown watching films. I think it’d make sense for the wider world of AOT to have early filming technology, but probably Paradis did not.
Anyway, as I’m sure some of you have noticed I’ve been trying to theme the pics of these cards a bit to their respective clubs. For the film club I didn’t really want to show them, like, posing in a theater or something, so I came up with the idea of having them instead pose with a film they’ve brought to the club. I think this could be a fun way to add a bit of character depth to any future FAC cards.
