It’s been a minute since I’ve done anything with the teachers of Azumanga Daioh. These two have such a fun dynamic, one I tried to play into the one time I drew them in the past. This Ask is leading from that pic, and it doesn’t really add anything new, but I think it’s fun to re-establish some things since it’s been so long.
Back in June of 2020 I got the itch to draw Yomi, and ended up sketching a bunch of pics focused around her. At the time, only one solo pic ended up inked and colored, but I kinda shoved the rest of them into a folder with the intent of eventually going back to them. I’m kinda shocked it took me as long as it did to dig back into that folder, but this pic is one of those from back then. Yomi and Tomo have a really fun and cute dynamic, and it’s easy to ship them. I hope y’all will like this pic, and I’m really hoping to go back to more from this folder eventually.
I haven’t drawn Osaka since 2010, and the drawing I did then didn’t really look that much like her to begin with. I liked the idea of doing something else with her in this Ask, but I struggled to think of someone who’d fit the bill. The only character I could think of wasn’t even the canon version of that character, so instead I decided to have Osaka answer in what felt like a pretty Osaka manner.
I would like to do more with Osaka eventually. I think she has the body type that can be deceptively fun to play with, and I think I could do some interesting lewds with her in the future. For now, though, she’s just kinda spacing out and vibing.
I’ve been enjoying drawing the Azumanga Daioh girls again recently, but as much as I love Yomi, Kagura was always my favorite from that series. I thought this Ask would be a good excuse to revisit her, especially since it allows me to also pair her up with one of my favorite ladies from Golden Boy. If I ever did a pool-focused update of my game, these two would very likely be on the list for it, so it makes sense to me they’d bump into each other. Being a competitive girl prone to hero worship, learning of Ayuko’s Olympic pedigree would probably make her eager to learn whatever she could from her.
Like Yomi mentions here, Tomo Aizawa doesn’t have much in common with Tomo Takino, besides their names. If I’d compare her to anyone from Azumanga Daioh, it’d be Kagura. However, I kinda had an idea for how to have Yomi answer and still provide a fun image to go with it. I’m kinda interested in maybe doing some regular yuri between these two ladies eventually, but for this Ask I think it’s fine for Yomi to defer to Jun.
Azumanga Daioh is an anime I watched a lot with my friends when I was in school. In 2020 I had a moment where I rewatched some of it, and found myself really into Yomi. I sketched a bunch of stuff with her at the time, including a couple pics with Tomo, but only one sketch from that session ended up being finished. I considered dusting off one of the ones with Tomo for this Ask, but decided to put together something new instead. I’d still kind of like to go back to those 2020 sketches sometime, and working on this Ask might be the thing that motivates me to do that (but no promises).
A while ago I had a series of random crossover ideas for Akemi, just different girls in the Studio I was considering drawing her with. I didn’t, and none of those characters are in this Ask, but I thought it’d be fun to pair her with some cute tomboyish girls like her daughter. I had a few characters I thought could fit for this Ask, but I decided to settle on two I haven’t drawn for a minute. Kei’s the tough one of Dirty Pair, and a very old crush I’ve only drawn a couple times. Kagura from Azumanga Daioh is… well, also an old crush, who I haven’t drawn since the CrossOver Yuri series back in the day. Neither’s exactly like Tomo, but both probably fit into the same category as her.
So, a while back I was watching through some Azumanga Daioh, which I hadn’t watched in years. While I was revisiting the series, I was struck by just how into Yomi I was. I don’t know what it was (I’ve always liked Yomi, but she’s never been my favorite), but I found myself really wanting to draw her. I ended up sketching a bunch of Yomi pics that day, most of them yuri with her classmates. I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to inking and coloring those pics, but I’ve been kinda stressed lately and needed a cooldown pic to work on. I’m still really high on Yomi here, and decided to ink and color the one solo pic of her from those sketches just as something fun to work on for my own sake. I hope you guys enjoy seeing her, though, and if people seem into it I might go back and pick up some of those other drawings for future releases.
So I got back from my convention last night, and a spent the extra time planning a layout for the next page of Special Training and wrapping up this piece that I started about a week ago. I’ve been more and more in the mood for yuri lately, so there might be some more stuff like this in the near future (sorry, yaoi fans!).
I’m always happy when I feel like I can convey parts of a characters personality, or the relationship between two characters, and I feel like that’s the case here. I always thought the interaction between these two teachers was really funny and cute in the show, and I hope I get around to drawing more of them in the future!
I’ve said before that I don’t like to take requests without payment, since I think it sets a bad precedent. On the one hand, it potentially takes business away from other, cheaper artists that one may go to if I’m too expensive, and it also makes it harder to say no to other requests later on. However, I do tend to draw requests when I get inspired by them, but at that point it’s really more a matter of me drawing something I really want to, and someone’s comment just happened to spark the idea.
This is sort of one of those situations, though in this case the idea came from someone I know IRL. She’s been re-watching Azumanga Daioh with her boyfriend, and one morning I got a random text from her saying, “You should draw Kaorin with Miss Sakaki.” I agreed. I haven’t done anything with Azumanga Daioh in forever (and even then, it was mostly color jobs), even though I really love almost every character in the show, and I’ve been wanting to do more yuri pictures anyway. When I read the text I pretty quickly got the idea for this pic and got to work.
After classes one day, Kaorin finds herself alone with Miss Sakaki and, in panicked desperation, blurts out a confession. One thing leads to another, and Kaorin finds herself with Sakaki on top of the teacher’s desk, her pussy inches from her face. Suddenly realizing what’s happening, a self-conscious Kaorin tentatively licks the pussy in front of her. Sakaki, from her vantage point, is suddenly reminded of a kitten lapping at a bowl of milk. She can’t help but picture Kaorin as a catgirl, an image so cute it pangs at her heart.
