Sonic Team

October ’26 One-Shot

So this One-Shot had a pretty straightforward premise, Sonic characters versus DC heroes they had something in common with. Now, I know there was a Justice League and Sonic crossover in the comics not too long ago, but I don’t keep up with modern comics and have only seen a handful of panels shared around. I talked with the Subscriber who submitted this script and decided I didn’t want to worry about referencing that comic (I don’t even know how much these pairings overlap with that comic, anyway) and just do my own thing. So I went with the Bruce Timm/DCAU designs for the heroes, ’cause I think that simpler art style looks best with the way I tend to draw Sonic characters. I think the result works, like this JLU/Sonic X crossover feels like it could’ve happened to me. The one trick was the last panel, as neither Starfire nor Blaze appeared in their respective cartoons. Blaze wasn’t hard to work with, but I did need to figure out an approach for Starfire. I ended up leaning more into her design from the later animated movies, but with a few tweaks to make her feel a bit closer to the Teen Titans design I usually use for her.

I was told to add any dialogue I wanted for this one, so I tried to have a little fun with that.

Studio Halloween Party Highlights 2026

Another year, another Halloween party here in the Studio. This year’s party felt like it took longer than usual, and I think that might be in part because I tried to fit too much into each panel. Not only does this make the page take longer to get out, but it also makes the figures smaller and maybe even harder to make out, so I’m going to try avoiding that for the Christmas party if I can. I am happy with everything we fit in, though.
There’s a couple characters here we haven’t seen in a while, maybe even some of you didn’t even know some of them were in the Studio. This year I finally got to do something with Carmella Creeper, the undead DJ from the monster cereal line. I always pictured her in charge of the music for these parties, but this year we got to see her. We also got a fun little nod to the Poll Me Closer series, plus I finally got to pair Corey Park with one of the Tom & Jerry witches I introduced last October. We also have a follow-up to the Canute Ask. Of the costume ideas submitted, Link and Zelda just seemed weirdly fitting and also gave me some ideas for how to use them in a scene.
I hope y’all enjoy this year’s party! In spite of it all I’m pretty happy with the final page, and I’m already busy working on Christmas’s!

Scourge Halloween Costume

Every year around Halloween, a randomly-selected Studio member gets to show off their costume for that year in a little pin-up. This character also gets the center panel of the follow-up Halloween party montage. This year the winner was Scourge, one of many Mobians who’s mostly just shown up in gangbangs of Chris Thorndyke. I thought a pirate costume fit him, and I looked to some of Sonic’s pirate looks from the games for how to make that work.

Inventors Club: Tails

This is the first pic of a new series I’m trying out called Club Cards. I’ve been setting some groundwork for different clubs in the Studio, which I think is a fun way to group characters and to give them a way to entertain themselves in the Studio. The way I’m doing this series is that I provided a poll full of the different clubs I’ve thought up to my Subscribers, and they voted this time for the Inventors Club. From that club, I ran my list of members through a randomizer, and of them Tails won. This is kinda the format I have in mind for this series, and I think I’m going to switch the “ClashMe” spot in my schedule with this series for a while, as a different sort of spotlight pin-up type Studio lore series.
