I needed a simpler Ask to answer for the moment, and I figured this one would fit that bill well. I like 17 despite not drawing him that often, so this Ask was a convenient excuse to draw him again for a quick pic, but also allow me to explain some of the, uh… Studio Lore, I guess. Gohan talked about this phenomenon a bit in his Spotlight interview, but some characters represent themselves from multiple realities. For those characters, they’re able to access memories and channel emotions form those divergent timelines, though they mostly live life as one simple “default” version of themselves.
Basically all of my coloring projects have fallen to the wayside since I started working on my game, it’s kinda replaced them in my schedule. I’ve made a point of making time for EcchiMask’s comics, since I’m actually cooperating with the artist there unlike this or S wa Fragile no S. Still, I don’t want to completely abandon these projects, and I made a little time to color page four here. This page was easier than a lot of them, especially with my feeling that the top-right panel wouldn’t need actual colors… Anyway, hope y’all enjoy this page. 🙂
This comic reads right-to-left.
This is the first page of a doujin by artist Iwasaki Tatsuya. I first started coloring this doujin about five years ago. I got pretty far with re-inking it, but then eventually ended up forgetting about it for a long time. I came across it again at the same time I picked up Mickey and the Queen to resume coloring. I didn’t want to pick both projects back up at the same time, so I decided to wait a while before returning to it. Eventually I did get back to it, and while my approach to coloring has changed since I first started this, I’ve decided to try picking up where I left off instead of starting it over. Like with my other coloring projects, I’ll add new pages to the Post Schedule as I finish coloring them.
I recently wrapped up this commission featuring Androids 17 and 18. This one’s a bit different than what I usually do, since I typically like to portray a grounded scene. This is more symbolic or metaphorical. It started as an homage to the opening of Spectre, but through discussion it sort of morphed and became it’s own thing.
I have mixed feelings about this one. I feel there are some elements I could have done better, I’m not sure my style is properly suited to this sort of art. I think a more traditional, painterly approach could have really driven home the more sinister undertones (and overtones!) of this pic, but that’s not really my area of expertise. Nonetheless, I think it turned out fine. I will probably doing more straight-up pornographic material with the Androids at some point, but it’s hard to guess when.
EDIT: By request, I’ve added a second version without the good doctor (though I kept the RR logo).
I’ve been on a real Dragon Ball kick lately. There’s probably going to be a lot more to come over the next few months. Probably it won’t all be like these most recent pics, I do have some straight and yuri concepts I’d like to do as well. I also hope to draw some other properties soon, but we’ll see where my interests take me. Right now I have, like, five other DBZ pics in the works, plus the start of a comic that I hope to be sharing soon.
Here’s the second pic of my Bijob series. Sorry this took so long, I know a number of you were looking forward to it, but this image went through several drafts before I settled on this one. I don’t know why, but I had a hard time getting an angle I was happy with. Truth be told, I’m still not crazy about it, but it’s definitely the best of the ones I turned out.
I wanted to do one with Android #18 and her twin brother, #17 from Dragonball Z. Once I had decided on them, it seemed natural to make the receiving guy (who may not always be a character from the property, but in this case is) Krillin, #18’s husband. We don’t see much of #17 after they marry, but it’s implied in GT (for those who consider it canon) that he lived in the woods after being revived by Shenron. I suppose it’s possible that between the Cell and Buu sagas he paid his sister and her husband a visit, though I can’t say I’m terribly worried about making this picture fit into continuity. 😀
