Guts has appeared in a couple other people’s Asks relatively recently. Two of them are Cloud and Stark, and now they’re returning the favor by appearing in his first Ask. I thought this would be a cute little thing to see, and I hope y’all like it.
There were a few Scenarios submitted this month for Valentine’s Day. While I didn’t choose this one specifically for the timing (even though this is going public in May, for Subscribers it came out on Valentine’s Day), I did pick it mostly because I really like the gems disproportionate to how much I’ve drawn them. I don’t think I’ve ever done anything with the three of them appearing together, and I believe this is a fun way to change that.
A while back I did Ghastly for the Pokédex F, and I mentioned at the time that I planned to do the full evolution line. Obviously this is me sticking to that, with Haunter here. I tried to translate how Haunter’s hands just float separate from their main “body” here with this more human shape, including translating it to the legs. I hope that reads well and y’all enjoy her.
The theme for this cover was nature-related characters. I didn’t really have anyone in mind when I posted the theme, but I think the only real options were Captain Planet and Poison Ivy. I went with the cap primarily just because he’s taking an anon role in the pic series focused on his show, meaning I’ve never properly drawn him before. So this magazine hopefully remedies that.
The Near Hentai Monthly Lady for May 2025 is Rias Gremory, a character I think some people are pretty fond of. Personally I never saw the appeal to High School DxD, it always felt to me sort of like an imitation of anime… Like the characters, world and story all give me the impression of a cheap knock-off of tropes and trends that were already dying out by the time it aired. I guess for that reason it’s always felt more like the anime you’d make to be on a TV in a different show, something familiar but without any real depth, character or charm of its own. Sorry if that’s too harsh, that’s just kinda how I think of it. At any rate, I didn’t want to just draw Rias with Issei, so I through in Akeno to spice it up a bit.
With this post, NHML nominations for the month of June are now open. For those who don’t know, I’ll run down the rules real quick. Nominations are limited to one per person. You can nominate any female character you want, provided I have not drawn her within the past calendar year (though I prefer characters I’ve never drawn, period). Previous NHML winners are not eligible for a second time. Nominees must also not be from the same franchise as this month’s winner, High School DxD. If you violate any of those rules, I’ll let you know, and you can nominate someone else. I know it can be hard to keep track of these things. You may nominate by either commenting in the cBox, commenting on this post, or emailing me (Nearphotison2010@yahoo.com). I’ll compile a list of the nominees in the sidebar of this site, and then on June 1st I will use a randomizer to select the winning character who I will proceed to draw sometime that month. I look forward to seeing who you all nominate this time around!
This is pretty similar to an Ask I did for Natsu a while back. I had a good idea how Kizuku would answer, though, and we haven’t seen him in a minute.
And with this we officially wrap up our second straight ongoing comic through SubscribeStar. I took a few liberties with the script here, but I think we’ve got a nice full circle moment I hope everyone will appreciate. I don’t know yet what the next comic for this slot will be, but I hope it’ll be a good one!
