My first thought when reading this question was that it wasn’t specified which of Gine’s sons they meant. Then I realized that could be the premise of the answer, so this is where I went with it.
So for the longest time I’ve had designs, personalities, backstories, etc. in mind for parents to a lot of established Applebridge characters. These parental figures are not, as of yet, involved in any stories or anything, so there was never any need to debut them. However, I thought it’d be useful to expand the setting a bit by establishing who these figures are, for characters who live with their parents. Every character has their own situation, of course, and I figure I can use the Applebridge Bios series to flesh these things out.
We’re starting with Corey Park’s dad, Max. Now, both of Corey’s parents are a bit distant due to their own lives and ambitions, which is part of what allows Corey to run the racket he does, but they’re loving parents in their own ways. Corey’s mom will be the next one of these I do, though it may be a bit before I get to her.
So Joy isn’t able to get into the specifics here, but I figured I might just in case anyone was interested. So the emotions in Riley’s head are, of course, metaphorical. Like, I don’t think if you put her in an X-ray you’d see the command center and everything in there. So, to bring Joy into the Studio, she was brought in separately as a character, which is also why the other emotions aren’t in the Studio. Then, for her brief appearance in Sleepover Raid, she was set up in a set made to resemble the inside of Riley’s head from the film. This means that, within the Studio canon, Joy can act freely and interact with other characters, including Riley. I’m sure Studio Joy wouldn’t waste much time in doting on Riley, and I tried to make it clear they have an ongoing dynamic where Joy embarrasses Riley in one way or another.
I’m hoping to do a little more Inside Out stuff sometime in the future. Riley has a new, slightly older design in that movie, plus I’ve never gotten around to her MomSwap (although that one will probably use the first movie’s designs). I have some sketches of Sadness I’m thinking of dusting off, plus I’m interested in maybe doing something with Riley and Val from the second film. No clue how much of that will end up seeing the light of day, but this Ask is me exploring going back to this franchise a little eventually.
This Ask is in reference to an old One-Shot. I don’t really see much chemistry between Luffy and Yamcha, however I had the idea for Yamcha’s reaction here and thought it’d be funny. Yamcha’s frequently ending up in scenarios where he expects to get to top and then ends up doing the opposite, and this is just another example of that.
I want to do more Yung Hee stuff, and one character I see her paired with often is the Marquess of Queensberry (who they just call Marcus). He’s a ghost and very obviously gay, but I guess she gets paired with him on account of him not being a pigeon or boxing legend Mike Tyson (also, spoilers, the only main character who isn’t her dad). I figured it’d be nice to touch on the pairing at least once, although I don’t plan to return to it or anything.
This is a question that caught my eye a while ago, but I couldn’t answer it until at least after the second page of “The Eizouken’s Closer.” I’m not necessarily looking to turn Kanamori into a strap-on queen or anything, but her using it here on Tsubame sounded fun to me.
Our most recent First Shoot poll featured another three-way tie. The first of the three characters who tied is Nolan Grayson, better known as Omni-Man from Invincible. I’m not personally a huge fan of him, but I see the appeal for others and decided to include him in the poll. His tie here coincides with a number of other Invincible things that have already come through, marking something of a resurgence for a show I haven’t watched in a while. Omni-Man’s randomized partner for this shoot is Cell, and I had a pretty easy time working out their dynamic.
