I feel like Edward’s restored body has been discussed a fair bit in his Asks, but I don’t know if he’s addressed it quite like this. At any rate, I had a good idea how he’d respond to this and figured I’d let him say his piece.
So while the Goku edit from a couple days ago was like an extra add-on to a Lord Tier commission, this here is half of the actual commission. The idea here is pretty straightforward, I think, with the comments and guesses being left up to me. The other half of this commission will also be a stream, though one not directly tied to this one, and will come out a bit later on.
As has become tradition, here is a compilation of some moments from this year’s Studio Christmas party. Hiro Hamada won the lottery to get chosen as the official Studio Santa this year, but as you can see he’s not the only one sporting the look. I had a lot of fun putting together this year’s party, and I tried to fit in an eclectic selection of characters. I hope there’s a little something for most everyone here, and I’d like to wish you all Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas.
I talked about the Superstar polls we did on Discord when I posted Inosuke’s recent pin-up, and this is the follow-up. The prize for the winner was to get a pic where they partnered with another Studio member of their choosing, so long as they hadn’t worked together on camera before. Mei won out in the end, beating out over five hundred other characters. I expected her to go far in the tournament, but I was kinda surprised to see her win the whole thing. Regardless, for her prize, she picked the relative newcomer Edward Elric as her partner.
This pic kinda ties in to the Choso and Envy Ask I did a while ago, in that it spawns from the same event. I didn’t get to play much into how I think Ed and Yuji’s dynamic would work here, but I think it’s a fun ice breaker pic if nothing else.
Here is the One-Shot comic for September, a selection of Fullmetal Alchemist scenes. Like always, this is based on a script submitted by one of my Subscribers on SubscribeStar. I’ve been drawing Ed with all his limbs for Studio-set pics, but since this one is set in FMA itself I felt I needed to give him his canon limbs. There’s a few characters introduced here who people have been asking me to draw for a while, so I hope fans of this series will enjoy seeing them all here.
There’s been some talk of Vegeta rating other asses after the Ask where he did so for Tanjiro. I don’t know how common that concept will be, but here’s another example of it with Edward Elric.
I mentioned in Envy’s Ask with Choso how I figured he’d crash Ed’s debut shoot. I considered including him here, too, but I figured it’d be better to just focus on Ed and Mustang’s dynamic a little instead.
This is one-half of a Lord Tier commission, featuring Chilchuck from Delicious in Dungeon (or Dungeon Meshi). The idea here was to do something similar to an old Mini Commission featuring Ashido and Gohan, but with Goku instead. The commenters and stream title were picked out by the commissioner, but the actual comments were written by me.
I’ve been toying with doing some kind of Chilchuck/Laios pic for a while, but I can’t say for sure if or when I’ll get to it. Thanks to this commission, Chilchuck ended up getting in first from the DiD cast. Learning about phones, how to use one, and then hosting his own stream all so soon after getting brought into the Studio is pretty impressive.
Unlike Todo, I don’t think Choso is very likely to refer to someone as his brother unless there’s a literal familial connection. Without trying to be funny, I think his brotherly bonds tend to be much more about blood. So, with that being the case, I couldn’t really have him answer this question in the affirmitive.
However, I did have a crossover pairing I wanted to do with him. I’m not sure what exactly made me want to draw Choso with Envy. It might be just because I already had an FMA connection in my head due to Choso’s debut (and, in fact, I’m certain these two met when Envy tried to crash Ed’s debut shoot), or it might be they’re the only two males so far who don’t wear nail polish in canon but do in Studio (to the best of my knowledge). I do also kind of like the image of them painting their nails together. Whatever the case, though, it was a pairing I wanted to do and this Ask seemed like a good chance to do it while also addressing my reading of Choso’s brothers needing to be literal.
