The One-Shot comic for July 2025 ended up being a tribute to Gurren Laggan. Despite watching and enjoying this show when it originally aired, I’ve barely ever drawn it and everyone but Yoko here is a Studio debut. For consistency’s sake I decided to use the season one designs for everyone, and tried to have some fun with it. The first two pairings here are probably the most obvious ones you could do from this series, with the third panel being a fun sisterly threesome. The last panel is a bit more of a random pairing, I don’t know if Kittan and Letye even interact on screen, but I assume the Subscriber who submitted this script just wanted to make sure both of them got in and had to fit them in somewhere.
So the idea behind this comic was Yuki Tsukumo trying to find her type of guy in the Studio, with a few different pairings. The original script left it open for bi interactions, but while I was working on it I just kinda felt like Yuki should stay the focus. So, I didn’t do that, but I tried to include a couple flattering shots of the guys to balance it out. It was a weird night when I did the groundwork for this one, and I worry that affected the final product, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out overall and I hope you guys will agree. I also have a lot of backed-up threesome material for Yuki now, so if I get the chance to use some of it in Asks or something you could end up seeing some of it reused, we’ll see.
Here is May’s One-Shot comic and, as always, the script for this was submitted by one of my Subscribers. The premise of this One-Shot is pairing up older sisters with their younger siblings, with a selection from a few different anime. With the exception of the final panel I believe each of these pairings brings at least one new character to the Studio, which is kind of fun.
It’s honestly an insane bit of coincidence that our April One-Shot winner ended up being this April O’Neil-focused script, but I’m here for it. April has a unique presence in the Studio, showing up in a lot of roles (such as the Spotlight Interviews or hosting Chi-Chi’s Fan Appreciation Tour) while only getting the spotlight shone on her occasionally. For the script here it was said April should be showing up in locations from the game, but I ended up not going that route as I had some other ideas I thought would be fun. So I put her with A-ko and Goku in the room where she MC’d A-ko’s ToL match with Krillin, had her crash an Ask that didn’t happen last month, and also made use of the couch seen in the aforementioned Spotlight Interviews. I did use a game location for the last panel, though. Also they asked for some dialogue, so I provided a bit.
This is the March 2025 One-Shot, as always written by one of my Subscribers. This is another script where each panel is kinda its own scene, I assume featuring characters this Subscriber wanted to see join the Studio. The first couple panels feature some characters I know some folks have been wanting to see, namely Hiei, Kurama, and the MAwS version of Jimmy Olsen. The latter two panels feature less-known characters, I think, Isami Ao and Lewis Smith from Brave Bang Bravern and Tamada, Dai and Yukinori from Blue Giant.
So, if I’m not mistaken, this is actually our 100th One-Shot, which is wild to think about. I’ve been doing these monthly since the fall of 2016, and there’s still plenty more to come! This one was won by a relatively new Subscriber, and is a focus piece on Invincible’s Atom Eve. She’s a character I feel like there’s some demand for more of, so I hope y’all will enjoy this action with her. I think I personally would’ve stuck with pairing her with other ladies from Invincible, since there’s a lot of good ones I haven’t drawn yet, but they instead elected for a more eclectic lineup. I hope y’all will enjoy it!
The first One-Shot of 2025 is focused on Scott Pilgrim, a franchise I’m quite fond of. I first got into Scott Pilgrim through the movie, but I like the comic a lot as well and really enjoyed the Netflix series. I’d been toying with drawing Scott Pilgrim content for a while, but wasn’t sure how well I’d be able to handle the style. I was excited to see this script win, though, and I hope I did a good job with these characters.
This is the second time we’ve had a Fire Force vs. Black Clover One-Shot, so I used the same location from last time for this comic. There’s a lot of new characters being introduced in this one, some of whom I don’t really know, but hopefully I captured everyone well and fans of both shows can enjoy this one.
The winning script for the November One-Shot focuses on two of the main ships in Fairy Tail. The script called for some unspecified dialogue in the last panel, and I did my best to write something that fits them even though I have only a passing familiarity with the characters. Hopefully everything here feels on-brand.
Like last month’s, we’ve got an actually consistently-themed One-Shot for October! This time we’re seeing Faye paired with a bunch of characters from Cowboy Bebop, although some of them don’t really make much sense in canon. We’re getting a lot more Bebop rep in the Studio through this one, though, so I hope people like it. The Subscriber who submitted this script also had a Faye/Edward Mini Commission on the docket, so I used their idea for them there for the first panel here. That allows me to make it more of a scene (since I can show both of them more fully), which I hope they won’t mind.
