Here’s the One-Shot for August! The theme for the script that won this time around was Trunks and Goten invading the U.A. dorms. The script called for either the End of Z or the new Super Hero designs of Goten and Trunks, which was a toss-up for me. I kinda prefer Trunks’ lavender hair, I only really liked the blue coloring for Future Trunks as a way to distinguish him from the main timeline version. On the other hand, I do like the tweaks to Goten’s design, as I feel he looks a bit more like Goku’s kid than Yamcha’s now. In the end I went with the Super Hero designs, just because I hadn’t used them yet and I figured people might appreciate the novelty.

I think I probably could’ve picked any random MHA girl for Butt Witch to answer with and it would’ve made sense, so I tried to work that element into her response. However, I thought she’d like Mina, not just for being bubbly and fun, but for her inhuman appearance that B.W. can probably relate to. There’s probably going to eventually be some MHA girls in the Busy Weekend comic, but for now I just thought this Ask would be a fun and simple way to get her together with someone from that series.

They’re maybe a bit on the tame side, being basically pin-ups with rope, but I like how they tend to turn out and I think they can spark the imagination. The poll for this fusion didn’t have a theme to it, but we did get two badass types fused. I thought going with a white and red theme for Ryuki here would be pretty striking and fun, and I tried to give her a body similar to Rumi’s but with a bit less muscle, since Ryūko’s so skinny. I decided to keep all the bunny elements, just ’cause they’re cute, but made them red to match better with the new hair style (in my opinion). I think she turned out fun, and I hope y’all like her.

I don’t usually like answering Asks like this (although it’s not unheard of). Questions just asking a character to do a thing usually only fly if I can justify why a character would want to volunteer to do it, and also Asks pairing up characters who don’t have an established relationship need some sort of justification. So… here’s my justifications.

I do like the idea that Toga would’ve been looking for some excuse to answer an Ask, that seems more or less in character for her to me. She’s appeared in other people’s Asks, like Deku’s or Harley’s, but this is the first directed to her. As for her meeting Pitou, beyond just grabbing her to do this Ask, I do actually have a narrative reason for them to know each other.

I’ve never had an excuse to bring it up, but I’ve always liked the idea of the NHML winners having a loose affiliation with one another. To be more precise, I like the idea of once a year, them all getting together and having a little party together. They have food and drinks, music, and welcome in whichever twelve new NHML winners there were that year. So, off of that, Toga and Pitou would have some sort of connection just through them both being former NHML winners. I couldn’t think of any reason for that to play into the answer, though, so I’m putting it here instead.

It’s been a really long time since the last U.A. Wall pic came out. This is for two reasons. One is just that I’ve started getting a little bored with the premise. Maybe that’ll change, but I haven’t been excited to work on this series for a while. The other, bigger reason is that, with the pattern I’ve been on, Iida was the next entry, if I was going to do him at all. I didn’t originally plan to include him, but he’s one of two guys I planned to leave out (Mineta being the other) who I got a surprising amount of people asking for. I like Iida, as a character, but I’m not really attracted to him and didn’t have any real interest in drawing him like this. Topping Deku or something, sure, but I didn’t really feel like drawing him in a pic like this… So I put it off, and put it off, but finally I got around to finishing it. So here it is.

That ended up not being the case, due to Eri’s NHML win, but now that he’s in the Studio it was only a matter of time until I did something with these two. I didn’t see much of their relationship before I stopped watching MHA, but I do think their friendship is cute and they make for a natural pairing.
