Here is May’s One-Shot comic and, as always, the script for this was submitted by one of my Subscribers. The premise of this One-Shot is pairing up older sisters with their younger siblings, with a selection from a few different anime. With the exception of the final panel I believe each of these pairings brings at least one new character to the Studio, which is kind of fun.
This is sort of a follow up to Anna’s First Shoot. She’s taken a real interest in Yoh’s Studio work, and I figured this Dare would be a fun way for her to explore how he’s grown while she was away.
Anna was the last of the three-way tie for this First Shoot poll. While I don’t feel like I do a ton of Shaman King stuff these days, I did have a while where I was doing it somewhat regularly, usually with Yoh. Since almost all of the SK content I’ve done was yaoi, though, Anna just didn’t come up much. I had one Subscriber who pushed for her a lot, though, and she ended up in NHML nominations and similar things. I put her on the poll and, well, she just barely made it in with Nolan and Namari. With her random partner here, I thought they might connect over some shared frustrations with their respective partners/love interests/whatever.
I actually had a plan to do a pic highlighting Ren’s back tattoo several years ago, but I never got that one beyond the sketching stage. This is different than what that would’ve been, but I thought it’d still be neat and hopefully some folks will enjoy it.
This is one of those Asks that I immediately heard a response to when I read it, and I figured some folks might like seeing Lyserg again. These types of blowbang pics are usually pretty fun, I think, and I hope y’all will enjoy it.
Here is the One-Shot comic for August of 2023! The script for this comic puts together several pairings that this Subscriber has been trying to make happen in Character Asks, but usually in ways I didn’t really feel I could make work in that format. They finally get to see some of their crossover ideas come to life here, though, and I hope y’all will enjoy the results.
I kinda don’t picture all of the boys who’ve been with Goku being a friend group or anything, but it makes sense to me at least of few of them would know each other. I kinda figured I could just show Uub with a couple of them, so I picked two boys I like but haven’t drawn a huge number of times in Yoh and Kazuki.
Lyserg is a character from Shaman King I drew ages ago for a One-Shot featuring several SK boys partnering with boys from other popular anime. I haven’t drawn him sense, but I pegged him as a good candidate for this series a while ago. It took me some time to settle on the pairing I wanted to do for him, but I finally got around to getting his second appearance here with Gon.
I thought this Dare would be fun, because I could picture how their dynamic would play out during it. I also think they’re a less-used shota pairing of the ones I’ve drawn, so I thought Shaman King fans might like it.
So the poll for this fusion was another themeless one, just ten characters I like. Of those, though, Kurapika and Yoh won out. The way these two mixed seemed pretty self-evident to me, so sorry if there’s not much surprise to this one, but I think the resulting Yorapakura is pretty cute. I decided to let him keep Yoh’s headphones (or, more accurately, get his own red ones), just ’cause I think they’re cute and I don’t see why he wouldn’t have the same habit as Yoh for wearing them.
